Another year, another holiday letter! A little less hectic this year as things sort of settled back down. I continue to go into work, enjoying the view form the 33rd floor of our downtown offices while Kenny works a hybrid schedule and goes in to the office (also downtown) as needed. Rosie and Radar are getting older, with Rosie showing signs of her age, especially in the mornings when she first gets up, but both are otherwise healthy.
After a few booster shots, we were able to catch up on some travel this year. I headed to Miami first for a cousin’s baby shower and took the opportunity to meet a few more distance cousins I connected with through Ancestry.com (via my father’s maternal side (hello to the primos Roig). A second trip was made to Miami a month later but this time with Kenny for one of his work conferences. Then in the summer I headed to Denver to catch up with my sister and her family to celebrate my youngest niece’s college graduation.
In the fall I finally headed to Havana – due to COVID I had had to cancel my March 2020 trip. It was good to see my aunt and cousins even if it was a short trip. Then we re-packed the bags and flew across the Atlantic to Budapest. This was our 2nd visit but our 1st time experiencing European Christmas markets. It didn’t snow but the weather was crisp and cold (and rainy towards the end). We joined our dear friends, the Hunyadis, as they introduced their kids (and the kids’r significant others) to their family heritage.

Top Row: Enjoying the Texas bluebonnets in the spring; my nieces, Claire & the graduate Olivia, and my sister Lilian in Denver; checking out my sister’s painting which is part of the permanent collection at the Perez Art Museum Miami (find her in Instagram @ Lilian Garcia-Roig); the view from my cousin’s home in Havana (also the house where my mom grew up);
Bottom Row: enjoying the view from the Fisherman’s Bastion in Budapest; having one of many hot mulled wines at a Christmas market in Budapest.
As we head into 2023, we wish all of you peace, love and happiness!
Happy Holidays & Happy New Year!
Elaine, Kenny, Rosie & Radar
