2021 Mesker-Garcia Holiday Letter

Well, 2021 has come and is almost gone. It feels like the year will never end at the same as it feels like it’s rushing on to an abrupt end. Kenny and I remain pretty buoyant despite all the turbulence going on beyond our four walls.

Kenny remains working from home and has yet to return to the Chevron offices. After an intense week working social media communication during Winter Storm Uri that froze Houston in February, I returned back to the CenterPoint offices in July and have been heading into downtown Houston ever since. Work for both stays consistently busy to say the very least, especially for Kenny. Rosie and Radar continue to bark at anyone and everyone who dares approach our home and live a life of leisure with dog beds in several rooms around the house.

After a year of no travel, we got ourselves vaccinated and boosted and ventured east in my Subaru Outback (I bought it right before the COVID shutdown, so it didn’t have any true highway miles yet) to follow through on some promises to visit friends and family. We made stops in East TN (near Pigeon Forge); Lexington, KY; Nashville, TN and Little Rock, AR – and the fall foliage was in its full radiance across all of these states, giving us gorgeous fall colors to view along our drives between cities. We did more catching up and talking than sightseeing, but we did enjoy our spelunking visit to Diamond Caverns and Mammoth Cave. The 10-day trip added over 2200 miles to the odometer and we were able to listen to an entire audiobook (Ready Player Two). Thanks again for the warm hospitality, great food, and even better conversations Nan, Marvis, John, Vaughan and Michelle!

As we wrap the year up, we wish all of our friends and family much love and happiness in 2022!

Happy Holidays & Happy New Year! Elaine, Kenny, Rosie & Radar

Love, Kenny, Elaine & Radar
