This has been an eventful year! Let’s see if I can get it all into one page!
Kenny and I celebrated 11th anniversary, Ginger turned 16 and Pascal celebrated a year with us. Ginger is in relatively good health for her age – a little crankier, a little slower and a lot more deaf. ☺ Pascal grew like a weed and ended up weighing in at 22lbs. He is a chewer & a dominant pup but he is a happy, healthy devoted pup and we are glad he found us.
Kenny also changed jobs and went back into SCADA engineering by joining Chevron Pipeline. It’s a big change to be in such a large company setting but he is enjoying it and the opportunities it will give him. I remain at Luby’s and since we live so close to my office, I decide to buy a 125cc scooter for the commute. More on that later…

Travel: I had the amazing opportunity to join my photography partner, Christine Tremoulet, on my first destination wedding to Caye Caulker, Belize. It was amazing! Beautiful scenery, beautiful people. It was so relaxing and the wedding party was so much fun. We went snorkeling with rays and went on a sunset cruise. I can’t wait to take Kenny!
I also got in a quick trip to New Orleans with fellow wedding photographers. Another lovely time with some amazing talent!
Photography: I am still shooting weddings with Christine Tremoulet as well as portrait sessions. I am thrilled to say that I had three solo photo exhibits this year (Taft Street Coffee, Caroline Collective & Te House of Tea) as well as had images in two other group shows (600 sq mi & Via Colori). Houston has a wonderfully supportive arts community and I am so grateful for the people in it. To the left is an image that was in several of those shows.
Then the sort of bad stuff…
Remember that scooter I bought? Well, despite taking the weekend safety course, I got spooked on my first ride out in mid-September and had an accident. No one hit me, I simply hit a curb – solely my fault. Needless to say, I broke my right shoulder blade near the socket & got a bad case of road rash on my foot. Three months later with a month of physical therapy (3x/week), I am much better & about 95% recovered. I was unable to pick up my camera during those 2 months but I am now finally back behind the lens! The scooter is mostly repaired thanks to Kenny – and yes, I do intend to get back on the scooter in 2010.
So, as you can see, the year has had its ups & down but it has been mostly up and has ended on a positive note. We hope your year has been positive as well!
Happy Holidays & Happy New Year!
Elaine, Kenny – Ginger & Pascal
