Another year has flown by! Wow! Kenny and I celebrated a dozen years of marriage, Ginger has made it past her 17th birthday (she’s gotta be over a 100 in dog years by now!) and Pascal continues to chew & eat things he shouldn’t have (including chocolate which led to an overnight emergency vet stay – thank goodness for pet insurance!) but he does so with such enthusiasm and happiness, it’s hard to stay upset with him for long…
Kenny has now been at Chevron Pipeline for over a year and has even sort of gotten used to his 6:30 AM start time (I haven’t, LOL). I hit my 4 ½ year mark at Luby’s as well and we are both so grateful to have survived the economic slump with jobs intact.
Travel: I loved my trip last summer to Caye Caulker, Belize so much last year that I promised to take Kenny and I kept my promise. As I hoped, he also fell in love with it. How can you not with $10 fresh grilled lobster & seafood, all the rum you can drink, turquoise waters, friendly people and amazing snorkeling? This year we even swam with nurse sharks!
We are planning our 3rd trip in July 2011 to celebrate Kenny’s 40th. Consider this a serious invitation to anyone who wants to join us – I want to make this a group trip with friends! Email me if you want more info!
In addition to Belize, I had another destination wedding in the Oaxacan region in Southern Mexico. We had the opportunity to take our husbands with us and together we explored the beautiful and picturesque historical city of Oaxaca and drove over 9 hours over the mountains on extremely curvy, bumpy roads to a very remote hotel on the Pacific coast. This part of Mexico is pretty peaceful and is treacherous only in its roads and its critters – I saw tarantulas, scorpions and even leaf-cutter ants, Kenny saw a sea turtle on the beach. Another gorgeous trip (see picture above)!
Photography: I continue to shoot weddings with Christine Tremoulet as well as family portrait sessions, newborns and events (hire me! ☺). I also stay busy by continuing to shoot for my own personal photography projects in any spare time I can find.
Some of these personal projects were featured in small exhibits in various sites around Houston including Modern Home in The Heights, Ripley House Neighborhood Center and the Houston City Hall Annex Art on Loan Project. I even participated in the prestigious FotoFest by having 6 photos in a group exhibit at Talento Bilingue. The picture above with the gummi bears and miniature painter was one of the images in the show.
Happy Holidays & Happy New Year!
