2018 Mesker-Garcia Holiday Letter

After a very difficult 2017, 2018 has brought more joy and has been a bit less tumultuous. Rosie and Radar have been healthy, and they are happy, lazy pups who sleep in their choice of dog beds around the living room. When not asleep they love to chase squirrels in the backyard and bark at everyone delivering a package or checking their mail.

Work wise, Kenny continues at Chevron as a process control cybersecurity advisor and is currently the manager of a Tiger Team. He doesn’t travel as much as he used to but enough to finally earn him Platinum status with United. This year he traveled to South Beach, Miami, California, D.C., Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Denver, the London area, Singapore and Tel Aviv.

Offering social media content for local marketing agencies and a couple of small businesses as Lilypad Social Marketing, I worked from home for the first part of the year, much to the dog’s delight. In August an amazing full-time contracting opportunity came up that Kenny encouraged me to apply for. I was selected and ever since then I have been providing digital marketing for CenterPoint Energy. Working from a skyscraper in downtown Houston is a new experience for me, and I am still managing to get lost in the busy Houston Tunnel System underneath, but I’m really enjoying the work and team so far.

Our big trip this year was to Ireland and Scotland. We traveled with our good friends again and spent a week in each country driving through Dublin, the Cliffs of Moher, Inverness, Edinburgh and many more. The roads were unbelievably narrow and I think I annoyed my travel mates with my constant shrieking of “sheeeeep”. Fortunately, no side view mirrors were harmed. We fell in love with the lush green panoramic scenery, waterfall and quaint towns of both countries. My favorite areas were The Highlands and Isle of Skye – they are bewitching!

We made a couple of smaller trips as well – I joined Kenny in Miami Beach while he was at a conference and I traveled to Little Rock to visit my college roommate. The week before Thanksgiving we headed to New York City to celebrate our 20th Anniversary. Due to my new contracting position though, we postponed our big anniversary trip until next year so you’ll hopefully read all about that in next year’s holiday letter.

In closing, we wish all of our friends and family much love in 2019 & stay in touch!

Happy Holidays & Happy New Year! Elaine, Kenny, Rosie & Radar

Love, Kenny, Elaine & Radar
